Karen Park

I am a scholar with expertise in linguistics, conservation leadership, and bio-cultural diversity. My work has broadly engaged the theme of biocultural diversity and the intersections of landscape, language, and culture. I am particularly interested in documenting, sharing, and encouraging meaningful engagement with the natural world. As a research affiliate of the School for Anthropology and Museum Ethnography, I serve as director of language and linguistics for the Ethno-ornithology World Atlas, which originated in 2014 from a collaboration amongst the University of Oxford, BirdLife International, and Lynx Edicions with a mission to better understand and share human relationships and cultural knowledge of birds. Since 2022 I have also contributed to the Human Sciences Introduction to Ethnobiology as a lecturer on the topic of linguistics and ethnobiology.
