Matt Patterson

Matt has interests in mid-latitude atmospheric dynamics and the predictability of weather and climate on a range of timescales. He is currently studying how sub-polar North Atlantic ocean variability on decadal timescales affects the atmosphere and consequently, European climate. This is part of the WISHBONE project in collaboration with partners in the UK and USA. 

He has previously worked on projects concerning understanding European summer seasonal forecasts and on the variability of the East Asian jet, and completed a PhD on the dynamics of southern hemisphere jet streams in 2020.
