My research uses techniques employed in observational seismology, reservoir geomechanics, and statistics to study earthquakes induced by human activities. I use mostly microseismic data (events not felt at the surface) to better understand how best to monitor and mitigate earthquakes generated by activities such as geothermal energy, hydraulic fracturing, and geologic CO2 storage.
